Gonnesa is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Carbonia-Iglesias in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 60 km west of Cagliari and about 14 km northwest of Carbonia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 5,184 and an area of 47.5 km².[1] Into its territory there is a beach long almost 4 kilometers, in which is possible to pratics surf, precisaly in a spot called Funtanamare. The other two spots are called Plag' 'e Mesu (Middle Beach in Sardinian language, and Porto Paglia. Gonnesa borders the following municipalities: Carbonia, Iglesias, Portoscuso.
