[edit] Plot

When Channel 84 hires a new meteorologist, Irv Bennett (Brendan Fraser), Nancy and her less-than-accurate weather reports are left out in the cold. Determined to remain an integral member of the news team, Nancy drives a stolen news van into a raging wildfire, aiming to scoop the competition. Meanwhile, Bobby is always frightened at school by a boy who keeps jumping out and startling him.

[edit] Cultural references

  • The title is a reference to the book and movie Gone with the Wind.
  • This episode is indirectly based on an incident involving KNBC-TV anchor and reporter Chuck Henry in 2004. Henry was covering a forrest fire when Los Angeles fire officials ordered all media to leave the area because of the dangerous conditions. Henry, and the KNBC staff, remained, reporting near the fire when a KNBC newsvan exploded and was destroyed. Henry and the KNBC crew had to be rescued by fire officials. In an interview after the fire, Henry tearfully recalled the incident. He was quoted as saying "Stupid Fire Truck, Full of Equipment."
