Gonadogenesis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gonadogenesis is one of the many particular stages organogenesis. As the body develops from a single celled zygote into a fetus, and eventually a baby, many steps are taken in an effort to promote cell-differentiation and specialization. Gonadogenesis refers to the more specific changing of cells into a uterus in females or a vas deferens in males.
Gonadogenesis is not fully understood, however, the importance of the GON-4 gene is apparent. Additional HOX genes are factors as well.
