Gombe is a city in northeastern Nigeria. It is the capital city of Gombe State and has an estimated population of 261,536.[1] Recent[when?] developments include an electrical generation operation forming the basis for the Dadin Kowa water project.

The state is predominantly habited by fulani (Fulbe) in the Centre and North while in the South the Tangale are the majority. However the state is made of numerous minority tribes that includes Terawa, Bolewa, Kare-kare, Jukun, Cham, Dadiya, Wajawa, Awak, and Kanuri (who migrated from Maiduguri). Although each of the tribes have their own language, Hausa is predominantly spoken.
