[edit] Oddjob vs. Odd Job

The article uses two different spellings for the name. I'm 99.9% certain it's Oddjob in the book, but what is it in the movie? 23skidoo 06:27, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

"Oddjob" - final answer :) I'm 100% sure. K1Bond007 07:17, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Split the Article

Do split the article, I think it benifets because when I click Goldfinger (or any Bond film) It normally starts up the top and the picture is novel and the film is halfway down. Also it has already been done to Thunderball (film) and You Only Live Twice (film) Broncopaul 10:09, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

I vote against the split as there is a great deal of trivia in common to both novel and film, and a lot of stuff which is more easily contrasted in a composite article. I suggest to fix the the problem of the film being better known, we merely START the article with the film and do the novel SECOND. SBHarris 19:04, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
It's going to be split at some point. The novel half will remain here and the film will go to the (film) dab like all the others Thunderball-TMWTGG (Goldfinger (film)). I'm working backwards on this (novel chrono). So I have TSWLM and FYEO to go first. It's not going to be easy to do because it'll have to be rewritten somewhat, but it should be split. It has to be split so that these can be properly expanded to be more comprehensive so that one day hopefully it can be a featured article. If you want to start on it, go for it. Okay. Yes, I'd certainly rather have a first stab at the disarticulation myself.SBHarris 23:42, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Too much trivia??

I removed the "too much trivia tag," as it's heavily POV. It just states this as a flat fact, without any suggestion that it needs discussion. Feel free to discuss.

As much of the "trivia" in Goldfinger is a rather careful series of motifs used by Fleming to suggest gold and riches as metaphor, I split some of those out. In any case, one man's "trivia" is another man's interesting features which make a work worth reading. SBHarris 17:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

It's been added to a number of Bond articles and for some of them I agree. We should really limit the trivia anyway. We should be able to find a good way to incorporate this into the article somehow. The "Subtexts and motifs" section was a good start, although I think the section should be revised into prose rather than bullet points and possibly expanded. K1Bond007 18:35, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
