[edit] Weapons
I couldn't really see any reason why something as interesting and informative as the table of weapons was mysteriously removed from this article on 14:44 16 February, 2007, and could only conclude that it was an accident, so I restored it today. GBMorris 01:15, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- It's not needed; this isn't a game guide. In addition it was a magnet for Original Research as people speculated over which particular model of what weapon was the base for each gun.--Drat (Talk) 14:18, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed - sites such as Detstar have the relevant tables, it's not really encyclopaedic or notable. mattbuck 14:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- With all due respect, giving this the boot under WP:OR is ridiculous. Most of the weapons are identical in appearance to their real-world counterparts, and many have a ONE LETTER difference in their names. Furthermore, there are a variety of independent sources attesting to the same. This is not brain surgery. It's common sense. WP:DUCK, anyone? We need a consensus decision on this.

- Furthermore, as for "it's not really encyclopaedic or notable", I'd urge you to look at WP:JNN and WP:UNENCYC. We don't use those terms as prima facia justification. Bullzeye (Ring for Service) 07:49, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I came on here specifically to look at that list of weapons as I had seen it about a year ago and was interested to look at it again. It took me a while to pinpoint when the vandalism took place, but I found that on 16:47, 15 August 2007, Vikrant Phadkay came along and took out what I considered to be the most interesting part of the article. I want a moderator to put it back in please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.3.145.0 (talk)
- A table of weapons is game gudie material, which is discouraged as per WP:NOT#GUIDE. If you want the table of weapons, then please go and look at one of the external links. mattbuck (talk) 23:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Removed soldiers
The credits feature a guard called " "St.Petersburg Guard" is this a glitch or deleted feature? I heard it was the soldier meant to be used in Streets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)
[edit] Goldeneye Source Developer Nicksters Suicide
I dont feel this is needed on the Goldeneye page as at that point its more info about the mod then it is the idea of recreation of the original game for Next Gen. I removed it for now if anyone has any objections let me know. 68.226.118.115 14:38, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mod
I'm new to this page, and was looking for information on goldeneye source on this wiki. The Goldeneye: Source Page redirects here, but there is no information about the mod whatsoever here. Anyone know why?24.5.28.44 22:58, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- It seems to me you are asking about something a fan of the game did. If so, then it would not be here, as Wiki is not for fan-created works, it's for official stuff. Also, I added a new 'section' for your question, it didn't seem right to leave it as it is considering what section you accidentally (we all make mistakes) put your question in. Lots42 09:23, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Easter Eggs
This section worries me slightly. There are just so MANY Easter Eggs in the game that it could easily bloom into a section larger then the rest of the article combined. But even if it stays, it needs to be rewritten for grammar, clarity and all that good stuff. Lots42 17:38, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
A late response, but that would be a killer page! The game's cult following alone warrants it.91.125.19.23 (talk) 03:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Silo Elevator
I keep taking out unnecessary and unsourced material, people keep putting it back in. The section does not need all of that rubbish about GameShark codes, or that unsourced statement about Dr. Doak. Enough is enough! SpinyMcSpleen 22:38, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cheat codes
I personally remember when two enterprising Gameshark hackers released the codes. For years Rare had denied the existence of such things, but were very quick to officially release the codes after the hackers did. Of course, it all needs citations, of which I have none.--Drat (Talk) 13:58, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Citadel attached to reference section
For some reason, there is section called "Citadel" in the Notes section, but the code for it does not appear when editing. Glitch? Practical joke? What? SpinyMcSpleen 05:39, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- ??? Whatever the heck is going on, there's about a screen's worth of utter gibberish in the Notes section. Bad HTML? I dunno, I have no idea what the original intention was in the first place. Lots42 09:21, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Using Detstar as a reference
Detstar cannot be used as a reference because it is not an official source of GoldenEye information. The picture of the Dam island can have a reference from Detstar because it is a picture, obtainable by anyone. However, information about the island, what its purpose was and why it was made inaccessable, needs an official source. Now, if Detstar can prove that the information it gives on this subject is true, then it can be used as a reference. But until then, please refrain from using it as such. [edit] GA on hold
Well written, broad in scope. However several sections, particularly The Gameplay and design section, need references. Have you tried using the game's manual? David Fuchs (talk) 11:43, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Done Put the game template and guide too. Vikrant Phadkay 07:24, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, looks much better. Passed. David Fuchs (talk) 12:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] My edits - gameplay and design section
I must admit, I was a bit miffed by User:Vikrant Phadkay's removal of so much that had been in the article for so long. But I can see why they were removed - the descriptions of weapons and cheats were too specific. So I've added some of that content back in, but as a much more generalised overview. I mentioned the Halo 2 article in my edit summary: as a featured article on an FPS, I thought that it would be a good guideline for the level of detail we should include - for example, rather than having a whole Weapons section, the Gameplay section just gives a brief overview of the major variations between firearms.
As I mentioned in the edit summary, the way it was before, the description of the mission selection process felt like a walkthrough in itself! :-) I spent a while trying to find a decent wording that clearly and concisely mentioned the presentation of the MI6 dossier menu theme, the list of difficulties available, and the variations between objectives on each difficulty. It's not perfect; some of the sentences still seem a bit stilted to me. But I think it's better than it was, at least.
So yeah, that's my rationale for restoring and rearranging stuff. :-) --Nick RTalk 03:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
It looks more encyclopedic now. Good job. Useight 16:02, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] GA on hold
This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed.
- The easter eggs contains uncited claims, such as being able to shoot during cutscenes. If these easter eggs are cited then this article will remain a Good article.
- Done No source found, so removed. Vikrant Phadkay 15:33, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
I will check back in no less than seven days. If progress is being made and issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions. Regards, T Rex | talk 18:55, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
- Reverted your deletion of easter eggs - I found a source for all the claims. mattbuck 17:57, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Guide
Jamey Quacky Powell's GameFAQS guide on the game should be deleted. After all, it is unfinished, and has not been updated for nearly 10 years! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.219.146.106 (talk) 04:38, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Answer! 124.180.248.253 06:26, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Continued vandalism by Team Bond
I propose that this article be semi-protected to kill off all these random IPs who add the team bond shit to it. Every damn edit is them adding promo material, and I'm sick of reverting it. If you see someone adding it, don't give them vand1, give em vand4, they know EXACTLY what they're doing. We've told them enough times. mattbuck 08:05, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Semi-protected :) mattbuck 11:58, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] All Bonds Cheat
The "all bonds" cheat never existed. On Mundo rare.com Two of the games developers spilled the beans behind the game.(Duncan Botwood,Marcus Edmans)

[edit] Sequels Section
The last paragraph mentions a possible port to XBoxLive. This has been debunked by Microsoft. Further Reading: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=93383 74.67.17.22 (talk) 13:37, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- Don't be so sure. Here's the article from Xbox World 360 your article refers to: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6SS3J992. Please don't tell me you think that they fabricated all those screenshots? Read around the eurogamer article. It says Microsoft "have no plans to release it" - presumably because it was stopped, and "the story ... is based on rumour" - which is true for the story about how MS and Nintendo fell out, but not the fact that the game was made. The game definitely exists, but it wont be released, the story behind what happened with Microsoft and Nintendo is just rumour - but that doesn't mean it isn't true. [edit] St. Petersburg or Leningrad?
If the setting for this game is before the fall of the Soviet Union, St. Petersburg should be called Leningrad. Erik Nels (talk) 18:56, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
