Sorry, forgot to sign in when i put up the first draft of this article. It isn't finished by any means, i still have a lot to talk about, but this atleast gives us something. -Scott Meyer

The real cause of gold inflation doesn't have so much to do with players, but the fact that monsters wander around with gold and valuable items than seemingly appear from thin air. If the monsters had to buy (or steal) the items on the open market, the economy would balance itself better -- although it might not be as fun a game. Would be worth mentioning the large positive gold inflow to the virtual economy and why it happens. EnsignYu 14:50, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Opening sentence

I think it would be a good idea to state that this is a game-related term in the first sentence. As it is, the usage of the word 'gold' could be somewhat confusing (to the average person, the word 'gold' means the element, not a fictional currency). — TheJames 22:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mudflation - Gold Sink Merger

Mudflation should not be merged with Gold Sink. The two topics have no relation. Gold Sinks are an economic tool to combat virtual inflation. Mudflation is Virtual Inflation. At best, Gold Sinks should be a sub-topic within Mudflation. Alby 21:36, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Alby

as a player i can say this does not work. RMTs or real money traders have made FFXi economy so messed up the game will not last much longer. crafts are a waste of time as the mats needed cost 10x as much as the finshed product sells.
