[edit] Lost Rhoades mine

There is a true story about Caleb Rhoades that should be considered adding to the Utah section. Well, not so much the story itself as the fact that he (and his father before him) alone mined what some believe to be one of the richest gold mines (at the time) in the country. Its actually an interesting story if u get the chance to hear it, but these mines were lost when Caleb Rhoades died (he destroyed the maps after an ambush from Butch Cassidy and his gang). Some consider it to be a legend, but Caleb Rhoades journals have been read and the location is hinted to be somewhere in the Uintah Mountain range along the Mirror Lake Highway. Research needs to be done on it, so I wasn't going to post anything incase it didn't belong here because its lost mine. Although it did provide most of the funding for the LDS church to build its temples and such early on in it's history of Salt Lake City. GeoHoden (talk) 17:40, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

As far as I know (but I would love to see some reliable source prove me wrong here), there is no well-documented gold production from the Lost Rhoades mine, so it does not belong here. However, it's a fascinating story that deserves its own wiki article, like the Lost Dutchman Mine and the Lost Adams Diggings.Plazak (talk) 18:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
