  • I haven't been able to find any, though there must be some. Part of the difficulty is that it's a pretty recent award; it just replaced the First Class Award in 1980, whereas the Eagle Scout honor in Boy Scouts (to give just one example) has been around sice 1911. Not many scouts have earned the Gold Award yet, and those who have are still fairly young. Perhaps in a few years . . . Eaglet

  • let's not get desparate to find names to put to the list for the sole sake of putting them there. if someone is notable, that's fine, but don't stretch it as far as we can. we might want to revise it to something along the lines of "notable reciepients of highest awards of GSUSA" or something like that. --preschooler@heart my talk - contribs 06:35, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Photos and Precursors

Photos of the Gold/FC/etc would be nice in their appropriate articles. I agree that the fact GSUSA has changed its top award several times detracts from their 'name recognition'. BSA keeping theirs called Eagle Scout certainly helped. How about an article on the FC award? Also, I understand only 10-12 graders can earn this, other grades the Sivler, etc.; whereas in BSA anyone in a troop can earn the Eagle award--it is not grade dependent....signed and Eagle Scout and father of an Eagle Scout. I'm working on my Gold right now, so as I get input and so on I can place some more information in here or find out how to find cited information.   • I vote to delete Chiang. i'm not seeing the notability, expecially under the header "Famous people..". nothing personal, just not seeing notability. are these seirously the only two people we could find? surely there's more somewhere.--preschooler@heart my talk - contribs 06:26, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I did a search of the microsoft website and nothing came up at all for anyone named lisa chiang. presumed unnotable, deleted. if anyone has a problem with that please state notablity here before reverting.

IMHO, I'd use criteria similar to what is at List of Eagle Scouts on its talk page. If they fail the "google test", we delete them from the article. Rlevse 10:06, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't have the new book(s), but you used to be eligible until you turned 18 OR until graduation (assuming you didn't take extra years to complete high school), whichever was later. Is this still the case? -Bbik 01:55, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Girls have until September 30th of the year they finish High School, or until they turn 18 if they graduate sooner. 216.119.215.193 18:12, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
