Gole Market is a middle-class locality in the heart of New Delhi, India. A kilometre away from the commercial centre Connaught Place and two kilometers from the President's House and the Parliament House, it has existed in enviable proximity with the political masters of India. Also near Gole Market is the Marxist Communist Party Office CPI(M)HQ.
It has schools, hospitals (Ram Manohar Lohia), gardens (Talkatora), avenues (Mandir Marg), markets (the most obvious one being Gole Market - the circular market sitting right inside a traffic island and Baird Lane Market), to complete the offering.
In the recent Delhi bomb blasts, the locality found itself in focus due to the proximity to the events as well as a rumored bomb going off.
Gole Market is every foodies delight.
Dozens of quality eateries and sweet shops and bakeries. Should have around 20 bar-be-ques and chicken/meat shops.
Gole Market is a big market and at around every 10 metre you should be at either a sweet shop, an eatery, a bakery, a bar-be-que or a liquor outlet!!!
The Gole Market is an all rounder market with innumerable grocery shops, dozens of medicos, many cyber-cafes, and lots of every types of shops from photography studios to electrical shops to bookshops or stationery shops. Not to mention the novelties and cottage industries showrooms. For the well-heeled there is always the Metropolitan Hotel Nikko and there is Sagar restaurant and Galina, for those who could make do with quality affordable grub. Just recently Reebok opened a showroom opposite the Bata showroom and the famous Bangla foods outlet.
Transportation is not a problem from this colonial era market, busses are available from not more than a short walk to either the Shivaji stadium bus terminus (where you could also find a McDonald's outlet)and from the Bangla Sahib bus stop. Autorickshaws are available in plenty, especially because there is a CNG filling station nearby and cycle-rickshaws are available for short distances. There is also a petrol pump on Bhai Veer Singh Marg. The Delhi Metro is also accessible from here(R.K. Ashram Marg Station).
