Goldene Peitsche
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Goldene Peitsche is a Group 2 flat horse race in Germany for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1,200 metres (approximately 6 furlongs) at Iffezheim Racecourse, Baden-Baden in late August or early September.
It was first run in 1867 at Tempelhof, moving to Hoppegarten the following year. With the exception of 1918 to 1922, when it was run at Grunewald, the race remained at Hoppegarten until 1944. It first took place at its present venue in 1953, and was given Group 3 status in 1972. It was promoted to Group 2 in 1991.
