[edit] Academics
Golden Valley offers academic programs with emphasis on preparation for higher education. All preparatory courses required by the University of California and other institutions of higher learning are offered. The school contains many different clubs and learning organizations established to aid preparation for college, such as the National Honors Society (3.5 GPA and above), Key Club, and much more. 12 Honors Scholars graduated from the school in 2007, with over 30 to graduate in the coming year. To be an honors scholar one must maintain a 4.0 GPA or above by the end of senior year. AP scores were superb for many of the students at the school, both honors scholars and not. This countered the anti-Golden Valley sentiment around the district, as many schools saw no opportunity for Golden Valley to shine academically--so far.
[edit] Athletics
Golden Valley is not very well known for it's athletics yet, because it is a fairly new school.
[edit] Rivals
The cross-town Wildcats of West Ranch High School have been the Grizzlies' rivals since both schools opened in 2004.
