[edit] History

The Golden Eagle is a brick built, cream painted old coaching house built in 1726 on the Roman High Street of Lincoln with former stable yard. During the 1750s a brewery existed, and the building officially became a pub in the 1780s. It is situated on the High Street of Lincoln opposite the picturesque St. Botolph's Church on the lower part of the High Street, with an archway access to main entrance and rear of the pub, car park and beer garden with all-weather marquee The building is also one of the oldest on Lincoln's historic High Street[2].

[edit] Today

The pub consists of two main rooms; a cosy lounge with a fire and a lively bar with darts, dominoes, cribbage and board games. Also, there is a large well kept beer garden with an all-weather marquee and a flood-lit petanque court for outside summer games. An off the road car park is also available for your designated driver. The Golden Eagle is currently a Tynemill Free House (Tynemill has twice won UK Pub Chain of the Year), run by landlady Tracy Harris. The pub also sports a locally successful football team, having last season won the Ron Eaglen county cup [3]. The pub is also host to many visiting musicians and bands, and hosts a popular fortnightly open mic night, walking group, Lincoln Classic Motorcycle Club, Lincoln Miniature Warfare Society and annual summer charity event in aid of the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance[4]

[edit] Ales, Lagers and Ciders

The Golden Eagle pub is noted in the Good Pub Guide [5], serving hand-pulled real ale including brews from Castle Rock Brewery in Nottingham, and English cider, with up to nine ales and two ciders from around the UK at any one time, plus a range of single malt Scotch & Irish whiskies and continental lagers[6].

[edit] Golden Eagle Football Club

The Golden Eagle Football Club first team are last year's winners of the Lincolnshire Premier Division and winners of the prestigious Ron Eaglen Cup, this following the very successful season the previous year after finishing second in the Premiership and winning the Ron Eaglen Cup. The pub's second team has not faired too well of late, suffering a series of large goal difference defeats in recent times. However, the Golden Eagle Football Club's reserves managed to finish the season on a high after beating Wragby in their last game of the season[7].

[edit] Live Music

The pub is also host to many visiting musicians and bands, and hosts a popular fortnightly open mic night. Musicians in resident are Teeshirt/Suntan, who play in the bar of the pub on a monthly basis. Latterly, The Shantymen have also gained a large following and also play on a regular basis [8].
