Gold Coast Marathon

The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is held on the first Sunday in July each year in Queensland, on Australia's Gold Coast.
The race incorporates a full marathon of 42.195km, a half marathon of 21.1km, a 10km run, a 7.5km walk and a junior dash over 2.25km and 4km. The race is acclaimed for its high standard of organisation.
In 2008 it will be held on Sunday 6 July. The event will be celebrating the 30th running of the event which started back in 1979 with only 124 marathon runners. Now there are over 16,000 participants.
There is a host of support events including a sport and leisure expo, legends motivational carbo lunch and pre-race community beach walk.
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is regarded as Australia's premier marathon event, and is held on one of the fastest and most picturesque courses in the world.
