"New Zealand Expo Song: God Defend New Zealand" is a single featuring the national anthem of New Zealand by composerJohn J. Woods. The single was released to coincide with the 1988 New Zealand Expo and featured the vocal talents of Peter Morgan, the Patea Maori, Dalvanius and Annie Crummer, the latter two as part of the Patea Maori Club, as well as the orchestration by the New Zealand Youth Jazz Orchestra.
The song went on to play as the opening anthem every weekday morning between 5.30 and 6.30am on TV ONE from 1988 until 1996, when TV ONE became a 24 hour channel. It is the most well known version of New Zealand's national anthem.
