Gods of the Earth is the second studio album by heavy metal band The Sword, released on April 1, 2008. On January 28, 2008, the album was leaked onto the internet, more than two months before its retail release. However, the leak lacked the track "The Frost Giant's Daughter."
The album's first single was "Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians," which was released on March 18, 2008. A music video for "Maiden, Mother & Crone" was aired on Headbanger's Ball on MTV2 on April 12, 2008.
The song "To Take The Black" is about the Night's Watch, who are characters from George R. R. Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire" series of fantasy novels.
