[edit] History

The band was originally named Blind, but performed their first show as Godhead in April 1994 in Fairfax, VA. with the band Mentally Deranged opening for them.

They are known as the first and only band signed on to Marilyn Manson's short-lived vanity label, Posthuman, in 2001. It produced their breakout album, 2000 Years of Human Error, that earned them recognition by Ozzy Osbourne and landed them a spot on Ozzfest in the same year on the second stage. Marilyn Manson, Twiggy Ramirez, and Scott Putesky (formerly known as Daisy Berkowitz of Marilyn Manson) all helped contribute to 2000 Years of Human Error. Since their breakout album, the band has steadily developed a stronger fan base. Godhead has toured on their own, as well as with Ozzfest, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Rammstein, Mudvayne, Orgy, and Static-X.

Their music is characterised as a mixture of dramatic goth rock and appealing dance beats with an atmospheric, industrial soundscape. It is further enhanced by the clean, terrifyingly deep vocal talents of lead vocalist/guitarist Jason C Miller and his gothic lyrical content. On their MySpace.com [1] webpage, the band credits David Bowie, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, and Nine Inch Nails as their influences. Both Wayne Static (of Static-X) and Reeves Gabrels (Bowie, The Cure) contributed to 2003's Evolver. Drummer James O'Connor left the band before the making of Evolver. He was replaced by Tom Z. Tom Z, in turn, was replaced by Ken Jay. In 2005, Jason C Miller asked James O'Connor to return as the band's drummer. He then left the band again in 2006 after the completion of The Shadow Line and was replaced by Glendon Crain.

The band's latest album, The Shadow Line, was released on August 29th, 2006. The album was produced by the band, Ben Moody and Julian Beeston (producer for Billy Idol and Nitzer Ebb). The album was mixed by Jay Baumgardner (credits include Evanescence, Seether, and Orgy). Following the release of The Shadow Line, Godhead went out on the Congress of Corruption Tour with labelmates Ra, and Ill Niño, as well as special guests The Dreaming. Following this domestic tour, Godhead headed overseas to support SOiL.

They recently finished a tour with American Head Charge in support of their latest single 'Push', the music video featuring an appearance by Ben Moody.

Starting in late October, Godhead will be opening up for Jonathan Davis' solo tour.

In December they will be releasing an acoustic DVD from a special performance that was held in Los Angeles earlier this year, as well as a new studio album that is currently being worked on.

On March 24th 2008 it was announced on the Godhead webpage, as well as Jason Miller's Myspace blog, that Ty Smith of Bullets and Octane and Black President would be replacing Glendon on drums.
