Godfrey Kututwa

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Godfrey Kututwa is a Zimbabwean sculptor.

Born almost completely deaf, Kututwa is mute, and due to financial considerations had his education cut short. Encouraged by Claud Nyanhongo, he began sculpting at 21, living with the older master for several years in Chitungwiza. Since 1996 he has been working on his own, taking subject matter from the natural world and reflecting beliefs of the Shona people in his art.
