Godefroy de Blonay

Godefroy de Blonay (born July 25, 1869 in Niederschönthal, died February 14, 1937 in Biskra) was a Swiss baron.
From 1899 on he was the first Swiss member in the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Baron de Blonay is considered as one of the closest confidants of IOC president Pierre de Coubertin. When Coubertin joined the French army in 1916 Blonay became acting president of the IOC.
In 1912 Blonay was one of the founders of the Swiss Olympic Committee and from 1912 to 1915 its first president.
