Godai Tomoyoshi (1539-1626) was a retainer beneath the clan of Shimazu throughout the latter Sengoku Period of Feudal Japan. Directly vassal to the present ruling head Shimazu Yoshihisa, Tomoyoshi nonetheless supported the former's younger brother, Yoshihiro, within the 1572 Battle of Kazakihara against the hostile figurehead Ito Yoshisuke.[1] Presently during this conflict, Tomoyoshi displayed a notable sum of martial prowess by capturing an enemy commander of Ito that respectively held the title of 'Kaga no kami'. Following this feat, Tomoyoshi then enlisted his support throughout the Odawara Campaign of 1590.
