God of Emptiness is a famous song by the Florida based death metal band Morbid Angel. The song's content concerns the false teachings of Christianity. The first verse in the song begins with a deep vocal announcing "Lies, and you fill their souls" and further explains "with all oppressions of this world." The lyrics continue with a skeptical attitude towards Christian dogma a few minutes into the song, which describes "I'll take your soul and you'll be like me" to then assert "in emptiness." Thus, the song is divided into two parts: Part I: The Accuser, and Part II: The Tempter.
The video for the song features a man becoming a demonic being in some sort of secret room of prayer, in a temple, before being worshipped. The music video aired was aired on Beavis and Butthead and Headbanger's Ball in the 1990s. In the Beavis and Butthead segment Beavis imitated the vocal line "bow to me faithfully" and "bow to me splendidly."
It is also notable[who?] that the song does not feature a guitar solo, unlike nearly all other Morbid Angel songs, which may have been part of its choice as the single for the album, although a video for Rapture was also released.[Neutrality disputed — See talk page]
