[edit] Content
"God's Will" tells of the singer's encounter with a physically handicapped boy named Will, who is "dressed as a bag of leaves" for his Halloween costume. Upon watching the boy walk up her driveway, the singer tells of how she had been feeling "wounded, jaded, loved and hated" until she "met God's Will". Here, the song's title serves as a play on words -- not just that the singer has found the will of God, but also that she has found it through the example of a boy named Will.
In the second verse, the narrator explains how she has had to watch Will at times when his mother had to work late, and of the activities they would perform together in the mother's absence. By the bridge of the song, the boy and his mother have moved to California; shortly before moving, the boy had given her a note reading "Me and God love you".
