  • Sorry about that. I'm really new, I've been using wikipedia for a while, but didn't know that there was such a thing. Thanks for filling me in. Gobazkov. PS:Is this how I'm to respond to you?
  • No sweat. Some people respond on their own talk pages, some will respond on the page of the user that posted; a matter of personal taste I guess. For my money, responding on the page of the user that posted is almost always faster. Good luck and happy wiki-ing.--Hraefen Talk 21:10, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Women of Faith

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Women of Faith, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://www.womenoffaith.com/About/companyoverview.asp, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), you can comment to that effect on Talk:Women of Faith. Then you should do one of the following:

  • Make a note on the original website that re-use is permitted under the GFDL and state at Talk:Women of Faith where we can find that note; or
  • Send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL.

It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! -- Merope 21:46, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Women of faith

The text that you posted on my talk page seems fine to me. I would format the list of guest speakers and wikify those who have WP articles. I should have taken the time to explain the copyright issues to you more carefully instead of using a templated message. I apologize, and I hope this hasn't sullied your experience of Wikipedia. Happy editing! -- Merope 02:12, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Women of Faith part III

The article looks good! I made some minor changes (e.g., spelling, link fixes), but I think it's fine now. I think you might be able to incorporate the mission statement of the group in your own words, maybe? The problem is that it's often difficult to talk about religious (or political) groups' goals without sounding like you're promoting it. But it might be possible--you can certainly use the website as a source for your information. It would also help if you found third-party sources (magazine articles, newspapers, TV reports, etc) to establish that this is an important group. See Wikipedia's policies concerning reliable sources and citing sources for more information. Happy editing! -- Merope 13:20, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

In sync with WP:NPOV, and in regards to Carried Away there needs to some sources beyond the carriedaway.ca website(which currently contains next to no information). The only sourced clain is the Award. I'm sure the information is all true, but Wikipedia is about verifiability, not truth. Is there a magazine article, book, anything that we can use as a source?Tallrichard2 21:30, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Ali Matthews. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites ({{{url}}} in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Ali Matthews with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Ali Matthews with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Ali Matthews saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CIreland 13:28, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Christineprankard.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Christineprankard.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs (talk) 13:05, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free Carried Away picture

Hello. I am sorry that your Carried Away pictures have to be deleted and I understand that it can be frustrating. I am currently asking someone if they have any picture from a concert last year, which they could license under Wikipedia-acceptable terms. If so, four pictures will be uploaded, one for each girl in the band, and one for the band. Thank you! Alex Perrier (talk) 01:14, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Colleenwalker.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Colleenwalker.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:13, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
