[edit] Vandalism

My friend and I have been trying to fix the "Lawrence North" article because at least one person (Fizzlestick) has been vandalizing the site with rude material. Unfortunately, you sent a warning to my friend for making these fixes. My friend is ip address 128.211.215.78 and I am ip address 12.208.100.117. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks so much. 12.208.100.117 04:34, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Apologies, I thought I saw continued vandalism in your edits. User:Fizzlestick is the culprit here but at least one other anon IP was vandalizing the Lawrence North High School article. -- goatasaur 04:39, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on the Sago Mine page. --Beth Wellington 22:17, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Happy to help! -- goatasaur

I'd just like to say thanks for your swift rolling back of the totally unneccesary recent edits made to Swansea University Computer Society. Thanks very much! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Welshbyte (talkcontribs)

Also no problem. Vandalism is quick to fix. -- goatasaur 22:27, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Hi Goatasaur, thanks for participating in my RfA discussion. Unfortunately, my fellow Wikipedians have decided at this time that I am not suitable to take on this additional responsibility, as the RfA failed with a result of 66/27/5 (71.0% support). If you voted in support of my request, thank you! If you decided to oppose me at this time, then I hope that if I do choose to reapply in the future, the effort I will make in the meantime to improve and expand my contributions to Wikipedia may persuade you to reconsider your position. All the best, Proto t c 10:28, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seward Collins

Hi, Goatasuar! Say, I saw that you were on the people who worked on the Seward Collins entry. I'm the Michael Tucker that referenced at the end of the text and I'm trying to find out whoever it was that wrote the piece. I'd love to share notes with the only other person I've ever heard of who had an interest in "poor Sewie" as his friends called. Would you be the source?--Mjt57 13:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, not me. -- goatasaur 03:01, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "deep" reverts

Please be careful when reverting articles and give preference to editing the appropriate section and only reverting in cases of clear vandalism. Your reverting of the Harry Potter article caused a corrected piece of information to become un-corrected. Thanks! -- goatasaur 21:13, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you, and my bad. Just what "corrected" information was uncorrected? We were engaged in reverting disallowed and unauthoritative speculation on the release dates (until it was clear that this would result in a reversion war with those insane fanatics who insisted on being the first to post a rumored "target release date" as a "confirmed release date", in spite of much discussion and attempted administrative corrections). The mob mentality ruled after a few hours, and the administrators and veterans took a wait-and-see position, rather than constantly reverting and counselling the rabid fanatics not to post unverifiable information. --T-dot 15:29, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
PS - I reviewed my reversions - the other material that was removed in reversion was a rather non-NPOV "Criticism" section added without any explanation by an anonymous IP address editor - stating essentially that "some fans of the LOTR and Narnia fantasy genre feel that the Harry Potter series is inferior..." (paraphrased) and went on to cite numerous examples to illustrate the point. This information is hardly startling - comparing classic Tolkien and Lewis literature to contemporary Rowling material - but it is completely irrelevant to the HP article. It smelled like a 9th grade book report on comparisons of English Literature. But OK fine. --T-dot 15:53, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
It wasn't anything major, just a date that had been fixed regarding one of the books. -- goatasaur 23:22, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Dredgelcielo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dredgelcielo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Save_Us_229 19:21, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Skippedparts.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Skippedparts.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:27, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
