[edit] Welcome

Hello GoAround and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. Try to be civil by following simple guidelines and signing your talk comments with ~~~~ but never forget that one of our central tenets is to ignore all rules.

If you want to learn more, Wikipedia:Tutorial is the place to go, but eventually the following links might also come in handy:

Float around until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. Additionally, the Community Portal offers a more structured way to become acquainted with the many great committees and groups that focus on specific tasks. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English as well as the cleanup, welcoming, and counter-vandalism committees. I noticed your work in the recent Spanish Translation of the Week as well. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy. If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- Draeco 23:57, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for adding material to my Fujigaoka page within a few seconds of my creating it! Have you been there too?--Hontogaichiban 18:54, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Well in that case thanks even more for adding some material, if you get the chance you really should visit Japan, its an amazing place - make sure you get out in the mountains as well though otherwise you'll miss half of the country (well more than half - most of Japan is mountains and forests.) Cheers.--Hontogaichiban 21:27, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Sgc logo cropped.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sgc logo cropped.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:09, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup tag on James Cobban

Hi, GoAround. I only just noticed that you had placed a cleanup tag on James Cobban back in June. I was the author of most of that page, and while I do need to get around to finishing the biography section (to include Cobban's tenure at Abingdon, for which he's best known) I'm not aware of any cleanup problems with the article per se. Could you be more specific about your concerns about the article? Please let me know, either on my talk page or on Talk:James Cobban. Thanks! —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 17:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:P0000807_basilica.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:P0000807_basilica.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 18:27, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sgc logo cropped.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sgc logo cropped.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:31, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
