Goalpokhar (Bengali: গোয়ালপোখর) is a community development block, police station and an assembly constituency in North Dinajpur district in the Indian state of West Bengal.[1]

Goalpokhar is located at 26.083 North and 88.133 east.[2]

Goalpokhar is divided into two community development blocs. In the 2001 census, Goalpokhar I has a population of 245,603, of which 125,706 are males and 118,897 are females. Goalpokhar II has a population of 226,231, of which 114,659 are males and 109,572 are females. Decadal growth for the period 1991 to 2001 was 26.56% in Goalpokhar I and 34.33% in Goalpokhar II, against 28.72 in Uttar Dinajpur district.[3]Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84%.[4]

Goalpokhar consists of two intermediate panchayats in Uttar Dinajpur district. Goalpokhar I is composed of the following village panchayats – Dharampur, Goagaon, Goti, Jaingaon, Khagore, Lodhan, Mahua, Panjipara, Pokharia and Sahapur. Goalpokhar II is composed of the following village panchayats – Belon, Bidyanandapur, Chakulia, Kanki, Nijampur, Sahapur, Surjapur and Toriyal.[5]:

In the 2006 elections to the state assembly, Deepa Dasmunsi of the Indian National Congress won the seat defeating her nearest rival Hafiz Alam Sairani of AIFB. In 2001, Hafiz Alam Sairani of AIFB defeated Deepa Dasmunsi of INC. In 1996, Hafiz Alam Sairani of AIFB defeated Md. Mustafa of INC. Md. Ramjan Ali od AFB/ Independent won the seat four times in a row defeating Nizamuddin Ahamed of INC in 1991 and 1987, Puranmal Maheswari of BJP in 1982, and Puran Chand Maheswari, Independent, in 1977. Goalpokhar is part of Raiganj (Lok Sabha constituency) [7]
