Goa Express (Devnagari:-गोवा एक्स प्रेस), (Kannada:-ಗೊವಾ ಎಕ್ಸ್ ಪ್ರೆಸ್) operated between Vasco-Da-Gamma, a town in the Indian state Goa to Hazrat Nizamuddin near New Delhi is the most important among the Super Fast Trains of Indian Railways. Operated as Daily train to link Goa State to the national capital New Delhi. The train is a super fast train and is similar to other trains like, Andhra Pradesh Express,Karnataka Express and Kerala Express which links the respecitve state capitals to New Delhi.
Goa Express is pehaps the only daily train to link New Delhi. Its timings are very convenient for Goans.
Vasco-Da-Gama(IR Code:-VSG) is the nearest Rail Head to the Capital of Goa, Panjim or Panaji. Panjim is not directly accessible by Rail.

[edit] History of Train or Introduction
The train was introduced long back in around 1987AD'Actual Dates Needed'.
1). Between Pune and Nizamuddin and after the Gauge converstion between Pune - Miraj of then South Central Railways it was Extended to Miraj in 1987-1988ADs.
2). A set of Meter Gauge trains in the name of 7805/7806 GOMANTAK EXPRESS, 7897/7898 - Old MG MANDOVI EXPRESS operated between Miraj and Vasco-Da-Gama used to connect Broad Gauge Goa Express at Miraj Junction.
3). The Old numbers of then Goa Express were

2480UP Hazrat Nizamuddin - Miraj - Goa Express
During this era, the train was organized by Northern Railway, Delhi Division.
4). In 1992-96AD, The Gauge conversion of Pune-Bangalore via,Hubli was progressed and the train was extended to Londa Junction in Belgaum district of Karnataka as

2780DN H.Nizamuddin - Londa - Goa Express
The train was operated by Hubli division of then South Central Railways.
5). The simultaneous Gauge Conversion between Vijayawada-Guntakal-Hubli-Marmugao progressed and the train was extended from Londa Junction to Castle-Rock in Karwar District of Karnataka and finally the train was Terminated at Vasco-Da-Gama of Goa in the mid of 1997-1998AD.
6). South Western Railway became operational in 2004AD and the train is presently operated by Hubli Division. Hubli Division is Recognized by "73XX" series of Indian Railway Numbering and thus the train bears the same number as 2723/2724 Andhra Pradesh Express.

Goa Express was introduced long before Konkan Railways become operational. Thus the train routes via, Madgaon, Londa,Belgaum, Miraj, Sangli,Satara,Pune,Daund,Manmad,Bhusawal,Khandwa,Itarsi, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, and Agra.
It convers Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and passes through a small portion of Rajasthan at Dhaulpur with out stopping.
'Train Covers a distance of 2197 kilometers in 39 Hours and 25 Minutes approximately from Vasco-da-gama to Nizamuddin'

Stoppages as on August 2007 of 2779 Vasco-H.Nizamuddin 2780, Goa Express are
Madgaon, Sanvordem Church, Kulem, Castle Rock, Londa, Belgaum, Ghatprabha, Raybag, Miraj, Sangli, Karad, Satara, Pune, Daund, Ahmednagar, Belapur, Kopargaon, Manmad, Bhusawal, Khandwa, Itarsi, Bhopal, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra, and Mathura before terminating at Hajrat Nizamuddin.
While in its return Journey 2780 Goa Express stops at Uruli near Pune.

Route 1). Vasco-Da-Gama - Londa WDM3A of Gooty(IR Code:-GY) Diesel shed of South Central Railways.
Route 2). Londa - Pune-Daund - Manmad WDM3A/WDG3A of Pune Diesel shed of Central Railways.
Route 3). Manmad - H.Nizamuddin WAM4 or WAP4 of Ghaziabad(IR code:-GZB) Electric Loco shed of Northern Railways.
