Gnomon (γνώμων) is an ancient Greek word meaning "knower" or "judge", from the Proto-Indo-European language *gnō-, to know. It has several specific meanings:
- A Gnomon is the part of a sundial which casts the shadow.
- Gnomon (figure), a figure formed by removing a parallelogram from the corner of a larger one, or in general, any shape that can be added to another shape to produce a larger shape similar to the original
- One of the twenty-five islands in the book Abarat
- Gnomonic projection, a map projection that displays great circles as straight lines
