Editor review

Yep, I will strike the comment, I wont remove it however. Moreover, I think the point was already brought up in his editor review by the editor that reviewed before me. I think the point will get across better if you just put it in review form, but thats just my opinion. Please do not take offense to my questioning of your question, I just was not sure what point you were trying to convey. Wishes, wpktsfs 02:52, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Please understand that I was not trying to answer the question for the editor, I was simply trying to clarify and answer my own question. As a note, I generally try not to delete comments from a review or talk page, I try to strike them instead, which is why I did not remove the comment. I am sorry that you are choosing to no longer participate in HO's editor review, as I do think that copyright is something that he needs to be aware of. I do not feel your question was unimportant, nor was I trying to answer it, I was just confused. Please accept my sincere apologies. Cheers, wpktsfs 03:44, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Sarah reverted my comments and un-struck your question, which I am fine with. --wpktsfs 04:09, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

Adoption

Hi, I've been around since January, but I still make a lot of n00bish mistakes, like forgetting to sign my posts. I would like someone to help me deal with trolls. Okay, so any user could do that, but a sysop such as yourself would be best. Let me know if you're interested in adopting me on my talk page. Supernerd 10 19:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, so is it official?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Supernerd 10 (talkcontribs)

Commas or parentheses for scientific name in opening sentence and elsewhere

(Now that was a long header wasn't it?) There's a debate here about commas versus parentheses for scientific names for organisms (well in this case birds). I'm not sure whether this has been raised elsewhere but would be good to establish once and for all here and could apply as MOS across all biology articles.

Your Comment

Hi Gnangarra, I appreciated your comments at the Schoolcruft essay which I thought were dead-on, but as I pointed out, Alan is (1) immune to rational argument on topics like this where he vehemently disagrees with others. (2) He is simply unable to let it go and will continue yelling until others get frustrated (which is the usual outcome). The best thing is to ignore him. Cheers, Eusebeus 16:42, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

When Circeus reviewed it, he commented that "A close up showing both flowers and leaves would do great in this section. There doesn't seem to be any close up showing leaves." Quite true, but to be honest I'm not sure how we could possibly squash in another image, unless we went for the forbidden gallery markup. The only solution I can see is an image that captures both leaves and flower spike, in detail, with both perfectly in focus, and looking so good that we are happy to replace the current flower spike image with it. So if you're planning on taking your nifty new camera back to Yule Brook, there's a big challenge for you ;-) Hesperian 01:11, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

France national rugby union team FAC

As of time of posting there have been no comments at the France national rugby union team's FAC even though it's been an FAC for over a week. So i'm asking for some comments from some people that have commented on Rugby union FAC's before. Please comment here. A support or oppose (with reasons) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Shudda talk 00:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I have decided to do a timeline for the Pilbara - it gets so damned confusing with the different mines, railways, etc - so would appreciate any comment about my stub - or any suggestions as well - cheers (I will be going back as well - have the Marble Bar railway and a few others to insert for earlier years) trust all is well SatuSuro 10:38, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Confusion about old block

Gnangarra, can you clarify the last entry in this block log? It seems like you're indicating that you still believe the editor is the same person from the arbcom case, but that the arbcom remedies no longer apply. Were you saying that Xenophrenic is indeed the same editor?--Chaser - T 02:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

The block reversal you were referring to was because of this as I read the condition the 1RR applied for only 12 months ie until January 2007 this was after that period of time. As for whether the editor is the same person editing from the range of IP address the check user only said likely, I've got more information but wont be able to provide for about 12 hours. Gnangarra 03:34, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
(No worries if you can't reply to this for 12 hours). OK, I'm going to try to get the parties to mediate first. If it becomes necessary to block, I can always use an initial short time and extend later. BTW, did you notice that none of those arbcom sanctions are in force anymore? The block history is still relevant, of course, and it may be reasonable (per Jayjg's comment on the case's talk page) to try to get a consensus to extend the sanctions regarding edit-warring another year.--Chaser - T 03:37, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

SRP

Thanks for that. I don't think the article itself is useable, as it is unpublished and marked "private and confidential" (so why is it on the web?!) As for the sources, I think I managed to track down most of them - interesting that he quotes Hasluck under the title "The Wallace of the Age", whereas my copy of that paper (same journal, year, volume, issue) is under the title "Yagan, the patriot". There's a couple of quotes from Kimberley that present an angle we could use in the article.

Good luck with Swan River Papers. Hesperian 00:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

Akita and Uriginal

On Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Uriginal you wrote: "interestingly Akita Inu actually says the bread originated from dogs that were introduced to mainland Japan after the First Sino-Japanese War. which took place on the Korean penninsula." I'm not quite sure of what you are trying to imply by this, but the two dog breeds that Akita were bred with after the First Sino-Japanese War were (as written on the article Akita Inu) Hokkaido-ken and Karafuto-ken, both of which are literally from Hokkaido and Karafuto (northern parts of Japan), and have got nothing to do with the Korean penninsula or Jindo Dog (from Jindo Island, Korea) that some Koreans claim to be the origin of Akita. --Saintjust 14:43, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I don't see anything "contradictory" about it. The First Sino-Japanese War taking place on the Korean peninsula has got nothing to do with the national origin of the two dogs. If you are suggesting that the alleged Korean origin of Akita inu is valid as two dogs in Akita's breeding history are from the Korean peninsula, that is simply incorrect. --Saintjust 16:48, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

Opinion

Wondering if i can get your opinion on my talk page. Thanks alot. Twenty Years 07:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Yeh, they once had a half-page spread in the West Australian (in the first few pages) about private school fees, basically looking at the biggest schools (PSA and IGGSA) in WA. It was some time in 05/06 though, before alot of the fees became really excessive.Twenty Years 08:41, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Im taking it thats neg for both?Twenty Years 08:41, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, on a similar note. I noticed that you quite rightly removed all of the logos from the PSA article. Would it be ok if i were to add them back, IF they were infact pictures of the schools logo (eg. photo taken of the schools logo on a students blazer?) Thanks. Twenty Years 08:58, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Aquinas Template

Hey, just wondering if i can revert your changes to the ACP Template, although the red is a tad strong on the eyes, i think that the colour it is now, is more a pink (or pinkish) colour, and doesnt accurately represent the school. The red that previously existed looks exactly like the red in the colleges logo in the ACP article. Thanks. Twenty Years 14:16, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

You need to consider that some people who are colour blind are unable to read a red/blue combination. Also in the articles it detracts/distracts when it scrolls into view. I link on the template talk page the relevant policies/guidelines. Alternative you could just use the standard template format. Gnangarra 14:21, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Would you agree to the use of a cream (instead of the pink) (code is: #FFFDD0 - from list of colours), this would be a tad more masculine, and would make the page less proned to attacks/vandalism, given the nature of the rivalry between the PSA schools, and their claims about eachothers sexuality. Twenty Years 14:33, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

P-Block

I have made a suggestion on Aurors talk page regarding our Probationary blocks, and was just after the four (involved) WP:WA admins thoughts on it, i would ask you to leave your thoughts on this proposal in that part of the page please. Thank you for taking this into consideration, best wishes. Twenty Years 14:50, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Possible DavidYork71 sock

Hello Gnangara. May I ask how likely you think it is that User:Al-Zaidi is the same person as DavidYork71? I ask this based off some circumstantial evidence, without knowing much about the situation. User:86.149.253.205, who is a Muslim hailing from the UK, and is suspected of being a DavidYork sock due to vandalism, edited Al-Zaida's talk page. This may have been vandalism, or it may have been Al-Zaida. Also, Al-Zaida both are western-based with edits to Islamic articles, and Al-Zaida claims to have gone to a York univserity. The evidence is circumstantial, as I know nothing of the editing pattern of either of them. Thanks. The Evil Spartan 14:34, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
