The Kenwick Pioneer Cemetery also known as the Canning Cemetery and the Cannington Cemetery had its first official burial in February 1866 and its closed 27 July 2001,[1] the land was part of a 33⁄4 acre parcel of land donated by Wallace Bickley to the community.[2] The area is thought to include the burial site of John Tolland a ticket of leave employee working for Bickley who drowned in 1863 in the Canning River.[3]
