IIM Bangalore (IIMB) consistently figures among the top business schools in India in domestic and international surveys. IIMB has world-class infrastructure that facilitate excellence in teaching, research, consulting and other professional activities. GMITE is a one year course in General management at IIMB started in the year 2007. GMITE has been designed for Software and IT professionals, who are looking for transition from technical / functional roles to general management roles. GMITE is also relevant for fast-track managers, who have recently taken charge of a general management role, in terms of equipping them with the ability to cope with responsibilities and issues at that level through formal management education. Participants of GMITE get an opportunity to develop core business skills and competencies and handle issues involving cross-functional areas. The specialty of GMITE is bringing together participants of various backgrounds, skills and experiences and develops cross-functional skills through an intensive curriculum taught by the IIMB faculty. Students are exposed to case studies and discussion, role-play, games, etc., and benefit through continuous learning and networking with peers from different backgrounds, during and after the programme.

This course is designed to help the executives to fit in the present requirements of all the fast growing industry and to enable the IT executives to take management responsibility in all industries, including the IT industry.
The Indian Software and Information Technology industry continues its march towards global dominance, it is increasingly clear that its leaders will be professionals who combine technical expertise with managerial skills. Further, as Information Technology increasingly permeates all products and services, those who combine technology skills with management competence will be best qualified to move to leadership roles in all other fast growth sectors as well.

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore has been a pioneer in offering academic programmes, which fit the new context. IIMB also runs the full time program like PGP, PGPM, and FPM. In order to address larger needs, IIMB now offers a general management program of one year duration and wider geographic access for working executives in software and IT industries (GMITE), who are looking for career growth and transition into general management roles. The other part-time course offered by IIMB are PGSEM and EGMP.

1. The candidate should have minimum of 5 years of experience in the Information Technology industry.
2. This course is meant for Technologists seeking to broaden their knowledge of business and move on to general management responsibilities as business heads.
3. The application are generally invited in the month of June-July every year for the next year Batch of GMITE.
