Global Marine Systems

Global Marine Systems are a company that repair submarine communications cables.

They are working on repairing the damage to Internet cables caused by the 2006 Hengchun earthquake.

Global Marine Systems (Global Marine) Since the late 1800’s ownership of the company can be traced back through early private telegraph companies, the British Government, British Telecom Plc and Cable & Wireless Plc, and in 2004 ownership was transferred to Bridgehouse Marine.

Global Marine is an independent company able to offer every element of the planning, installation, and maintenance of a submarine network system. Global Marine provides support in four distinct markets: telecoms; renewable energy; the oil and gas industry; and defense. The combination of unparalleled technical expertise of the workforce and access to vessels and ROVs has enabled Global Marine to oversee many of the industry's most complex projects for over 150 years.

Global Marine is also one of the only integrated system providers in the world with the technical experience and equipment independence to meet the ever changing needs of the submarine market place with effective and cost efficient solutions. The company has been instrumental in the development of several scientific projects aimed at placing undersea observatories around the globe for the use of the university communities of the world.

Global Marine employs just over 600 people worldwide, with two thirds of them based at sea. Its head office is in Chelmsford in the UK, with representation in Singapore and Florida and Boston in the USA, giving the ability to cover South East Asia and the Pacific Rim, North and South America, and Europe. In addition, strategic alliances and maintenance depots increase the company’s global presence to deliver fast, effective, local solutions.
