Global Canopy Programme

The Global Canopy Programme is an alliance of 29 scientific institutions in 19 countries who lead the world in forest canopy research. The GCP manage research programmes into canopy ecosystem services, aiming to define and explore the the value of these ecosystem services.

Member Institutions include UNEP, the WWF, the Natural History Museum, and the Large Scale Biosphere Atmosphere Experiment, Brazil.

The Global Canopy Progamme was instrumental in drawing up the Forests Now Declaration, which calls for new market based mechanisms to protect forests around the world.
