Globacom is a telecommunication company that has Alcatelas its technical partner; in Nigeria by 2003. It is also the second national carrier after the Federal Govt-owned NITEL with its licences covering GSM, Fixed Lines, Gateway Services, Broadband Services & Leased Capacity Services. In 2004, the American software corporation, Microsoft, filed a lawsuit against Globacom for using pirated software at the control center.[1] Globacom has recently established itself as the preferred telecommunications company in Nigeria by its provision of world class telecom services and affordable product packages.[citation needed]. It offers various GSM packages such as the "Classic Package" or the "Premium Package" on its prepaid platform and "Optimiser" & the "Maxixmiser" packages on its postpaid platform. it currently has over 15million subscribers. Globacom has successfully launch its services aswell in the republic of Benin being the first indigeous company from Nigeria to take its business out of the shores of Nigeria
