As you probably guessed my name is Glen, I'm a 32 year old Kiwi. I'm an administrator here, as well as a VandalProof moderator and Vandalism Control Network Staff member for the vandalism channels such as #vandalism-en-wp.
In real life I'm the Managing director of diverse companies; From clothing to energy supplements. I just happened to find Wikipedia in late 2005 when a Tom Cruise parody website I designed had this article written about it. My primary activity here on Wiki is the elimination of all vandalism, trolls and cruft. However, I have written several articles, usually related to my fairly wide interest base; Cults fascinate me, and because I am a former bodybuilder and have a 1st Dan black belt in both Tae Kwon Do and Ryu Kyu Kempo Karate I write about all subjects related to fitness, and the martial arts. |
[edit] Re: Thank you
No problem... I'm relatively new to this vandal-watch thing, so I was worried for a moment that I had gotten carried away with the ease of the click-revert process. (Especially given that it was a talk page - I didn't want to interfere with an ongoing conversation.) Glad it helped you! --Ckatz 09:52, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Edit summary
I noticed that you warned Lao Wai against incivility in an edit summary, mentioning the threat of blocking; do you really think that "Taiwan? Bhutan? Who are you kidding. Prove it." is so uncivil as to warrant that sort of warning? I have to say that I don't. I see far worse every day; I'd not be offended by "incivility" it was aimed at me (though I hope that I'd not have earnt it). --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 21:46, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Hi Mel, thanks for allowing me the chance to explain my comment on the above user's talk page. First of all, I think perhaps you should reread what I wrote. Personally, my phrasing of:
to my mind hardly equates to your interpretation of"Just a small reminder to be a little more civil in your edits. Some users may deem that as a personal attack and if done repeatedly could result in a ban. Thanks in advance"
I said "Some users may deem that as a personal attack and if done repeatedly could result in a ban. Thanks in advance" - that is certainly not a threat and I believe very civil. Secondly, I looked at his history and he certainly could be more civil in his summaries (for another example see here). Please let me know your thoughts having read my reply, and thanks again. - Glen TC (Stollery) 13:00, 5 June 2006 (UTC)"warn[ing] Lao Wai against incivility in an edit summary, mentioning the threat of blocking"

Sure it might have been too much. But I only started using the templates after his reverts completely ignored my suggestions to look at the discussion pages (I assumed good faith then). So I don't type them anymore. I just use 'rv'. Have you checked the dates? He's been doing this for weeks and never enters the discussion no matter how you direct him to the discussion pages. He hasn't bne doing it as much this past week but we'll see.(Halbared 08:20, 8 June 2006 (UTC))
- Thanks for the response, and the acceptance of my application! I shall read the how pages on how to use it wisely.(Halbared 08:45, 8 June 2006 (UTC))

[edit] VandalProof Installation
Hiya Glen, I am a bit confused over which setup to run from the zipped file after reading the warning at the tope of the vandalproof page. There are a few that are called setup. Should I do the setup.exe first or setup1.exe or vandalproof 120.exe?(Halbared 20:44, 9 June 2006 (UTC))
- You should have a file called VandalProof 121.exe correct? That is all you need. Do not install version 120 it has a serious bug. If you don't have get it VandalProof 121.exe then please download it from here Let me know how ya go :) - Glen TC (Stollery) 20:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RfA
Thank you for supporting me in my recently unsuccessful RfA. I plan on working harder in the coming months so that I have a better chance of becoming an admin in the future. I hope that you will consider supporting me if I have another RfA. Thank you for your support. --digital_me(t/c) 15:31, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Can't get VandalProof working
Everytime I load it up, nothing much happens. After a while I noticed that was because I was loading up 1.2, which had been disabled, so I downloaded 1.2.1. But even when I click on that it brings up version 1.2. I'm probably missing something blindingly obvious. -- Steel 10:49, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, it's sorted now. Funny thing is, I didn't even do anything. I loaded it up earlier and Rollback and such was greyed out on diff pages, now they're working for some reason. Thanks, though! -- Steel 15:44, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] VandalProof
How exactly do I get it to work? I've installed the zip file, and downloaded v1.2.1 as an exe, and most features are greyed out, and I get a message saying to ask you, since you gave me the welcome message. Thanks,--Keycard (talk) 15:18, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:BUZZ The Big Quiz.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:BUZZ The Big Quiz.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Vic Vipr 18:49, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- You just need to specify where the image was found. A simple URL will do in the image summary. ~ Vic Vipr 18:58, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Fine and swell, and I completely understand about your turning my application down. However, it should be noted that such events were mainly the cause of one bent out of shape admin. Such is life. Carry on Search4Lancer 01:00, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Getting an account
Responding to - Hey matey. Don't misunderstand ALL edits are welcome on wikipedia, that's the entire point (and that's also the reason we won't protect articles like Sandbox unless we totally have to. However, if your edits are being reverted all the time then you are doing something wrong. Number one, why don't you get an account? It's free, NO personal info is required and your edits are ten times likely to remain (most admins only look really hard at anon IP edits). Will you try that? - Glen TC (Stollery) 06:17, 31 May 2006 (UTC) PS: can you please add to the bottom of pages when replying not the top? Thanks
Just spotted this, i'm afraid to get an acct. for this very reason. Since my edits are always being reverted, im afraid if i make mistakes it will be stuck with me forever (logged, etc). By remaining anony., i realize that i can learn wikipedia and my IP will eventually change if i need a fresh start. The fact that someopne blocked me for 24hr before just scared me even more. Would getting an acct. really be wise before i know wikipedia well enough not to get reverted? Just today i got a warning for putting AfD on the AfD page, Weasel on the Weasel Page, aand speedy deletion on speedy deletion (adding the tags to them). Not sure whats wrong with this, as the edit comment clarified i dont want to delete AfD, etc., yet thats the only edits i have done today. Help? 72.197.2.40 07:52, 10 June 2006 (UTC) This is 72,197.2.40
[edit] Definitely get an account!
Remember you don't need to give your email, your real name, nothing! You could call yourself Bongo the turtle if you want, and there's no way anyone could identify you. If you decide to close that account, you can, or just open a new one! Its even more anonymous as people can trace you from your IP as you are now -- trust me :) - Glen Stollery 15:36, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] hey
Hey man!
I saw you edited the Alex Federov page. Thank you.
I am a big fan of bodybuilding and been creating various bodybuilder pages. If you wanna know which ones, just ask.
Thanks again for the backup!

Thanks for the tips, fellow bodybuilding companion.
Hopefully I'll be working more with you on these pages and make a good impact bodybuilding wise on wikipedia.
