Don't know if it's worth mentioning but Cavalry units in the Irish Defence Forces wear the Glengarry as well as all Commissioned Officers in the Irish Reserve Defence Forces.

This painting is a poor illustration. I can't discern any feature of the cap; it looks like a "pillbox" hat askew. Sobolewski 21:10, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

I think the painting is there as a representation of the man who's credited with inventing the hat. There's a good photograph below of an example of the hat itself.
