Glenmont, New York

Glenmont is a hamlet located in Albany County, New York in the USA. Glenmont is in the Town of Bethlehem and can be considered a suburb of Albany, New York. It has mostly 2-story houses and above average income families. Glenmont also has four shopping centers, with stores such as Price Chopper, KMart, Marshalls, and Radio Shack. A recently built and controversial center includes a Wal-Mart, Lowe's Home Improvement Center, Applebee's, and Wendy's. Recent additions to the Lowe's shopping center on Route 9W include PetSmart, Panera Bread, and Staples. Many people opposed the building of these businesses, preferring Glenmont to remain a small, peaceful, suburban area. Others encouraged them, wanting to bring more revenue to the town of Bethlehem.
