Reply to Annoying Blue Message

I'm not the only person that has it. Check User:Dreamafter. After all, that's where I got it from. --Goodshoped35110s 00:38, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello, I am Dreamafter, and, if the only reason you don't like it is because it is annoying, and there is no policy against it, too bad. Take a look at Fir0002. On the left. Your Grace Lord Sir Dreamy of Buckland tm 12:20, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

IP vandal category

Hey man, looks like someone's replied to our discussion at Wikipedia talk:Vandalism#Category:IP addresses used for vandalism. Want to take a look? GlassCobra 12:07, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

I responded there. Incidentally, their concerns seem to be only about the specific criteria for inclusion. So hopefully a consensus may form about what the criteria for inclusion should be. - jc37 18:28, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you.

Thank you for removing the vandalism on my userpage back on the first of October. I can't believe I didn't even notice until today! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 00:21, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Why isn't all my posting appearing?

Hi, thanks for responding to my call for help and sorry for the delay in replying. I've submitted an entry on the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance which is a couple of hundred letters long. However, only the first sentence is publishing although the rest is evident in the editing section. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks very much, Daniellehitch —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniellehitch (talkcontribs) 04:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism question

Hello GlassCobra: (cool name)

I'm encouraged to leave my question here by your recent reply to Diego about vandalism.

The pages for reporting vandalism and related problems are confusing, as they seem to lead around in circles. (I can explain in more detail, but you may already know what I'm talking about.)

For example, I can't figure out where to report this issue:

I noticed that 216.56.42.62 has vandalized a few articles recently, but has no warnings on talk. I didn't post a warning because I did not revert the vandalism. Should I? I don't think following a trail of vandalism and posting delayed warnings is something I should do.

Have you any advice about a) where best to report this sort of thing in future, and b) what if anything to do about 216.56.42.62  ?

Thanks, Wanderer57 17:57, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

About my redirects

Hi, GlassCobra. I remember you putting, let's see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8 of my redirects up for discussion. It's surprising that Totani-chan, the first one to be put up for discussion, is the only redirect to have survived being put up for discussion. Don't you think? Please respond on my talk page.Kitty53 18:16, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Of course, we're still friends! The putting things up for discussion will never interfere with out friendship! Please respond on my talk page.Kitty53 01:10, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

WP:RAD

I'm not dirty on you. I kind of expected it'd happen sometime, but did think I'd have a notice given, and that's why I put pressure on the admin who deleted it to reinstate it until a bot converted all of the occurrences to my page. I was kind of unhappy at the time, but now I'm somewhat bla se. --lincalinca 01:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

No, I'm just keeping Wikipedia clean. GlassCobra 06:23, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

This is quite mean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infoguardian (talkcontribs) 06:51, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I apologize; I don't mean to cause any offense. I'm acting in the project's best interests; since your article seems likely to be deleted, it doesn't really serve any purpose to have references in other articles. GlassCobra 07:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Although i do appreciate some of your points. I just hoped that a place can still be found for the articles. I know that i am still in the early stages of my career. However, the Ola Kamel article is a different story, she was genuinely and heavily involved in political matters and achieved some fame locally. --Info Of Interest 06:58, 24 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infoguardian (talkcontribs)

Yeah, the Ola Kamel one actually has some potential, I believe. Notice that I haven't removed any of the references that you've added about her in other articles. GlassCobra 07:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I am an academic and i value rigour and accuracy, so i admit that i am finding it difficult to defend my article. The Ola Kamel one however I hope should stay, and I will try to add more documentation in time. --Info Of Interest 07:11, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I've fixed up Ola Kamel, hopefully it will pass now. What do you think of my changes? GlassCobra

However, I do hope for the Ola-abaza article to remain atleast as a stub. Boys who want to do important things (and who have the potential capacity to achieve) are or should be notable, it is only a matter of time until you and other wiki editors accept that. Perhaps when third party references are available.--Info Of Interest 07:27, 24 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infoguardian (talkcontribs)

People are not notable without verifiable references to prove it. One does not gain notability by wanting it, or having potential. GlassCobra 07:43, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
I understand and agree. Other people must define the person as notable. I am saying that in the future you will find my name archived for sure (well this is atleast the plan). I will fight for that. For my work and my name. --Info Of Interest 07:47, 24 October 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infoguardian (talkcontribs)
I'm afraid that's not going to happen. From the looks of the AfD, your article will be deleted. I'm sorry, but Wikipedia just does not accept articles for subjects that aren't notable. Have you read our notability policy? GlassCobra 07:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Help with Canadian Model of Occupational 'Therapy' page

Thanks once again for your help with this, but I've just got one more question. While the heading of the article is Canadian Model of Occupational Performance, the main heading of the page is Canadian Model of Occupational Therapy (which is incorrect). How do I go about changing that main heading to the Canadian Model of Occupational Performance?

Thanks very much,

You found some Lil Weavah sources and references. T-Rock is about as known as Lil Weavah; you think you can dig some sources and shit up for me so I can make the page again? --L-Burna (talk) 18:52, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks again, man. I have the article posted under Antonio Washington, so you can delete that User page. I'm gonna try to talk to an administrator and see if that will do, so thanks a lot. -- L-Burna 16:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Regarding the RfA

It's sad--and yes, a bit disappointing--that RfAs have become such a big deal that if someone self-noms, or if dare to re-nominate themselves without the proper time of penitence or whatever, that they are rejected by the community. Especially when the user has clearly demonstrated he wouldn't be abusive with the tools, but would use them to better the project. That's the root of my disappointment, as I had thought from your answers that you understood how desperately the community needs solid admins. K. Scott Bailey 11:18, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

No, my comments at your RfA stand. I think you will do a great job as an admin. It's just comments like these that leave me frustrated, not so much with you, but with the process that allows people to oppose (as you pointed out), or remain neutral (as you have done) based on this reasoning: "...nominating yourself four times over just a few months suggests intentions that might not be best for Wikipedia." How so? I don't get it. He wants to use the tools, and has shown no indication that he wishes them for ill means. I have not seen one person point to an instance where he has shown any inclination towards abusing the tools. K. Scott Bailey 13:36, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

<sigh> There's always a fly in the ointment, isn't there? But I have found this stuff in both our RfAs interesting, to tell the truth. Just when I thought I had the idea of what it was that people wanted to see before they gave me the mop, along comes someone with a different idea. I suppose what it means is, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Oh well. Chin up (or in my case, chins up). Accounting4Taste 22:00, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

EV-Nova.net

I’ve told the boards everything I know about EV-Nova.net. Whatever happened, happened on its own without any intervention on my part, and it locked out administrative access just as it did the public site. Unfortunately, no one who still has any power over the site (whoever that might be) has shown any interest in changing it or explaining what happened.

With the forums having been closed this long, I don’t think much would be accomplished by re-opening them at this point (though I do have full backups), and most of the site’s content is now available elsewhere. I should get back to converting the Fact of the Day. :) David Arthur 14:37, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Given that there's no Wikipedia article, why...

In the Norwottuck Rail Trail Bridge article, why did you replace the external link to Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. with a link to a non-existant Wiki article? Are you about to create that article? - Denimadept 12:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

An inline external link to a corporation's own website is a form of low-level linkspamming. If the firm is not notable enough to have its own Wikipedia article, then there shouldn't be a link at all. --Orange Mike 13:09, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Okay, I'm missing something here. An encyclopedia article is supposed to contain relevant information regarding a topic. Given the medium, a link to a company site seems appropriate in circumstances where an article on the company is not going to happen. Creating articles for every company obviously isn't going to happen, so I feel less-than-clueful. Enlighten me, please. - Denimadept 15:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Respectfully, about Hdt's RfA

This one is going to be close. You have stated the reasons for your "neutral" vote, and I respect that. However, I am respectfully asking you to reconsider in the light of how much only one vote means in such a close RfA. Hdt is not a problem user, and there's no reason to think he would abuse the tools. Please reconsider staying neutral on this one. Oh, and so you know, I'm not a Wikifriend of this user or anything. I had never met him before this RfA. I simply hate seeing solid editors get voted down by those who oppose (not you, the opposes) based upon some arbitrary standard. Thanks in advance for any time you spend reconsidering your neutral. Regardsm K. Scott Bailey 20:25, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Many thanks for the award, I'll have to add it to my awards page when I finally get it up ;) Right now most links are redirects because I haven't created the subpages, but I'm glad you liked the design. Your comparison is highly offensive

Your comparision of LaraLove to a racist for saying a 12-year-old may not be mature enough to be an admin is highly offensive (see [1]). Ageism as it applies to young people is a highly controversial definition, not in the least when compared with something like racism which has killed and maimed so many people in our world's history. Good show, and good luck

From the admins I know (I'm not one, and I don't really want to be), adminship is a pretty thankless job. I'm sure you'll do a really great job with the tools. As for Hdt, it's unfortunate that it looks as if his RfA is going to be unsuccessful. From all I can see, he would have been a solid admin, very helpful to the project. Perhaps in a few months, people will be more open-minded about him. I do appreciate your willingness to look at it again, though, as this shows you're not rigid in your thinking. As I said initially, though, whatever you chose to do wouldn't have changed my opinion of your track record, and your potential to be a really great admin. Regards, K.
