Cuthbert Blanedale Frunk

A tag has been placed on Cuthbert Blanedale Frunk, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DraxusD 09:10, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Clashofkings.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Clashofkings.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:The Assault on Reason.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:The Assault on Reason.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 17Drew 05:19, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Image:The Assault on Reason.jpg

No, the source of an image does not constitute a fair use rationale. Please see Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline for what is required. 17Drew 14:51, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Do not add the images back in. Even if the images are not deleted, Wikipedia:Non-free content explicitly states that they cannot be used that way. "Non-free content is used only in the article namespace; it is never used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." 17Drew 14:59, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
The licensing tag cannot be used as a rationale. The rationale should explain how the image meets the criteria for using non-free media. 17Drew 05:53, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

The Slug Vomitting Curse

Personally, I believe that Eat Slugs is the incantation, but to prevent further frustration, might I suggest adding a note to the section and creating a debate on the talk page? As I mentioned, I am against this, so I won't do it myself, but it will make things much easier on you and help us all get our positions heard if you do these. Therequiembellishere 03:49, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Also, there is something weird about this page, that the only wway I could make this section and re-edit it to make "mention" past-tense was to click "edit this page" at the top. Therequiembellishere 03:50, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Non-canonical Spells

Hi there! :)

Hi, dear GlassCobra! :) Thanks for keeping vigilant, and for letting me know about that entry you tagged. It was deleted minutes after by IrishGuy as a non-notable page, just as you said. Keep it up! :) Regarding your request for help, of course, count on it - be aware tho, that I'm a little behind schedule as far as request for designs are concerned. If you don't mind waiting, I'l be glad to help you in matter of a few days, k? Have a wonderful weekend! :) Phaedriel - 23:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Regarding Banderstiz

GC, I appreciate your concerns, and because anime/manga isn't my forté, I have to admit that the possibility of a hoax is real. That, however, isn't enough reason to abandon good faith and due process. Jonny may indeed be right about the articles being nonsense, but neither WP:AIV or speedy deletion is the proper way to address those concerns. The correct route to go here would be to add the {{unsourced}} or {{hoax}} tag to the articles in question instead of immediately insinuating that Banderstiz is committing vandalism. Caknuck 23:02, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Oops

Sorry about that PROD on Bugz. I hadn't heard of him, and for some reason google didn't give me anything the first time I did a search. Good work cleaning up the article. - Zeibura (Talk) 01:13, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry I just saw the title to be empty so i decided to enter some information on the cummunity. I will not do it again. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lebtiger (talkcontribs).

is there changes that could me made?

Could you tell me if there is any way it could be changed so it may remain e.g. making it more factual about robbie's cancer maybe and having the other information as an example of his witt? Please this has been very hard on my family and this is the only real joy they will recieve over the issue. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Chris miller101 (talkcontribs).

3RR

Be aware of the The Three Revert Rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts, in whole or in part, on a single page within a 24-hour period. A revert means undoing the actions of another editor, whether involving the same or different material each time. If you are reverting vandalism (which doesn't count), then please say so in your edit summary. Thanks! •Malinaccier• T/C 00:49, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Awesome! Just put it in your edit summary and you'll be fine! •Malinaccier• T/C 00:56, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I blocked that user for a day, but the other two IPs (I suspect meatpuppetry more than socks) I left alone as they had either stopped or not been sufficiently warned. Let AIV know if they start up again. Daniel Case 17:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. I blocked that IP too. But it looks like we may need a range block, which requires some artfulness I don't currently possess. Bring it up at WP:AN/I. Daniel Case 19:00, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I should have thought about semi-protection. Duh. Hell, I did it for someone else just today. Daniel Case 01:31, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Speedy Deletes

Excuse me, i believe you noted some of my articles for deletion, i would ask that you stop doing this as i will add more information to them when i have more time, thank you sir. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chcfea07 (talkcontribs)

Booking.com

Hi there, I tried earlier to put up a short piece of information about the website booking.com, and it was swiftly deleted. I was wondering why exactly this was, as it was a descriptive piece of writing, in no way advertising or promoting anything, and also wikipedia seems to have allowed other sites with very similar descriptions (such as Priceline and Expedia) to have pages on wikipedia. Thanks for your time, Sam —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samorro (talkcontribs)

Hi again, thanks for your response. is there anywhere i can put up a test article, or check the text, so that i can avoid this happening again? Thanks again, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samorro (talkcontribs)

Concerning Nileshroy

Thanks for the heads-up (it is all in a days work for an admin), and yes, he has created a sockpuppet, but did not use it, so no harm done...(see WP:SOCK), and no, there is no punishment for him to create articles about himslef; it is pure vanity with perhaps a little spammy intent. He is not the first not the last to do so. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar 14:24, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Chcfea07

To be totally honest, he just needs to calm down and listen to reason. He's trying to do good, but won't listen when we explain it's against policy. Hopefully, a short block will help calm him down, and understand a bit better. Or not. We'll see. Gscshoyru 17:37, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

So much for my assessment of reality. Ah well. Gscshoyru 17:46, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
P.S. The edit links for the sections are messed up on your page for some reason...
I think it's the second section that's messing it up... try deleting that or something. Gscshoyru 17:53, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
Because the first section-link works, the second link goes to the third section. Gscshoyru 17:58, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

And Down The Stretch Comes Murder

It is nonsense for now, but someone usually writes a plot for the episode. I guess I was impatient to wait for it. Socby19 06:28, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Yes, if you had looked at the 'what links here', it would have showed List of Psych episodes. Like I said, someone usually writes a plot, and some allusions. I was just adding to the allusions section before it got started. I can wait until it gets created. Please reply to my talk page, as well as yours. Socby19 19:09, 11 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello. About your AIV report on 黄子龙‎ (talk · contribs): I've removed the report because this user is already blocked de facto for using a TOR proxy. Minor Harry Potter characters

I would like to know why you reverted the change I made. I had just removed the Wizard of the Month section because I beleive it to be very plainly against WP:NB and/or WP:NOTE. These 'characters' are not even in the book series and have no dialouge in the books. If these charcters were taken out of JK Rowlings books (If actually in any of the books...) there would be no significant change to the books. If you look at a universal stand point, not just within the Harry Potter universe, you can see that these fictional characters are not near notable enough to have mention in this article in Wikipedia. Thank you,  Bella Swan(Talk!) 12:46, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Would the Wizards of the Month be considered a real 'written work'. She did write it and would it be counted as being 'published' of some sorts because it's on her website. I mean there are plenty of websites out there where people can make up and write whatever kind of story they want to and post it on the internet, but is it considered a written work?  Bella Swan(Talk!) 15:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Another point I would like to make is that the article they are in (Minor Harry Potter characters) clearly states in the beginning statment that "The following are minor characters in the Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling". As most of these wizards on not in her books, can they really be in this article?  Bella Swan(Talk!) 15:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
I see you point on the fact that it is notable enough to be on Wikipedia, but should it be in this article? It does kind of contradict the first sentence in the article, but I can't think of how to change it or where else to put it.  Bella Swan(Talk!) 15:49, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification,  Bella Swan(Talk!) 15:52, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

Vote canvassing

Vanity Pictures

Generally, uploaded pictures get deleted if they aren't being used in any articles...and vanity photos really wouldn't be used in articles. IrishGuy talk 21:58, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

WP:USERPAGE states: Some people add information about themselves as well, possibly including contact information (email, instant messaging, etc), a photograph, their real name, their location, information about their areas of expertise and interest, likes and dislikes, homepages, and so forth. so it isn't directly against policy and I have seen quite a few users add photos to their userpages. IrishGuy talk 22:25, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

AfD

Apologies for not assuming good faith, I see now that you were not aware of the rules on canvassing. The reason I felt I had to make it clear was that I've seen AfDs skewed by canvassing before, on occasion only coming to light afterwards. It wasn't so much the wording you used (as the other editors opinions on the subject were already clear), it's more the fact that it could encourage "keepers" to !vote who might not otherwise have done so. And unless you also notify "deleters" of the AfD, it could be seen as trying to manipulate concensus. Anyway, just thought I'd better explain myself. Cheers, Miremare 23:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Redwall WikiProject

I think that the first step is recruiting more members. I spent the past little bit checking out this list, seeing who was an active member and such. Now I'm going to check my list of active Wikipedians who like Redwall against the list of contributers and then send invitations to the remainders. The only issue is that I may be going soon, so I may have to give the list to you, or simply tell them to see you with any questions. That okay?--Song 21:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

CSD

Hi there, thanks for the message. Which articles were you referring to? They were all deleted so fast after I tagged them, I didn't get a chance to warn the creators. They might need warnings for creating attack pages (one I reported to AIV, since they had a final warning) but unfortunately I can't see what I tagged anymore, do you happen to know? Thanks! Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 06:14, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I see where you added the warning. Thanks for taking the time to check up to make sure the creator was properly informed. Happy editing to you too! :) Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 06:20, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

David Latta

Hello - I was just about to create David Latta (Alberta politician). However, I don't think he's the most prominent of the three, necessarily, so I didn't think he should get the David Latta page. So I went through all the pages that link to David Latta and disambiguated the links to David Latta (Alberta politician), David Latta (ice hockey), and David Latta (rugby player). From there I figured that the best way of ensuring that, when somebody gets around to creating articles on the other two, they create them in the same namespace that I disambiguated the links to was to create the disambiguation page. I'm not married to this solution, though, so I'd be happy to hear what you have to say. Sarcasticidealist 08:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Harry Potter roll-call

Hi there. Your username is listed on the WikiProject Harry Potter participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "potentially inactive" list. If you still consider yourself an active WikiProject Harry Potter editor, please move your name from the Potentially inactive list to the Active Contributors list. You may also wish to add {{User WP Harry Potter}} to your userpage, if you haven't done so already. Conversely, if you do not wish to be considered a member of the WikiProject, leave your name where it is and it will be moved to the Inactive Contributors section. If you wish to make a clean break with the Project you may move your name to the Known to have left section. Many thanks.

Spells in Harry Potter

Thankyou for your support. I hate WP:FICT as it currently stands - it's far too draconian. If it was interpreted word-for-word, the only articles left of the Wikiproject would be the books, the films, the three lead characters and one article about fandom. It's horrible!! But Spells in Harry Potter is going to survive this AfD even if the reference section is six feet long by the end of it!! Happy-melon 19:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Essentially, primary sources (the books, in this case) are not given any authority at all for defining notability. What it means is that the article on Hermione Granger has to prove its notability in the same way as Cormac McLaggen, which is patently absurd. It also, by insisting on very high notability standards, raises the bar extremely high. I would expect that, by WP:FICT's definition, it's harder to get an article for the captain of a Quidditch team than it is for the captain of an Elephant polo team, despite many more people knowing about Quidditch than Elephant Polo! I had to invoke Wikipedia:Ignore All Rules not long ago against someone who was being totally literal about WP:FICT. It did the job tho: 17 keeps against 1 delete during the last three days of the AfD!! Happy-melon 20:07, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
