User:Gregory E. Miller, possible sockpuppet?

Noticed User:Gregory E. Miller just added his name to the members list of the Wikiproject I help maintain. Sadly, given the huge issues I've had with User:Greg Jungwirth I'm now treating any members with the name Greg or a variant of that name which pass by where I usually patrol with strong suspicion as it's fairly probable it's him. Drifting through his contribs for suspect activity I notice that he has himself down at WP:S-MEM as having Rhode Island as a location and animation as an interest, both of which GJ had which seems to fit with my suspicions seeing as he did pre-empt himself recently by warning me about "the next friend I make" being him in one of his recent routine talkpage blanking efforts. Keep an eye out for him, it does seem he's making an attempt to return to cause more disruption and this might be it. I've informed User:Rlevse about this and whilst I really don't want to accuse anyone incorrectly it seems far too convenient that all those little things pop up at once. Will give the user the benefit of the doubt for now unless something comes up which seems to fit his MO. --treelo talk 15:57, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Hey

Why is my page about Eastern Glow up for deletion???!!!

--Les Paul Maniac (talk) 11:37, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank-you for apologizing

In particular, comments like Joshua's are disturbing to me in this scenario. He does not understand my reasoning because he, and nobody else, asked me. Everyone has to sit around and talk with eachother about what I must have been thinking, and then decide that I must have been wrong. Why couldn't they just ask me? They might see my side, or vice-versa. Pity, this. Jerry talk ¤ count/logs 02:59, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Fred Toucher

Perfectly reasonable query. This was an article about a local shock jock, apparently a sort of third-rate Howard Stern wannabe. The only source (other than his own websites) was a single local newspaper article about the show he's on (which still has its own article[!]), and a link to a lawsuit against him by another DJ. I saw nothing that came across to me as any assertion of notability for this guy. (In the interest of full disclosure: when I deleted this article, he and/or his partner denounced the fact on the air, and his followers repeatedly vandalized my userpage and talkpage with the kind of witty repartee you might expect. Oddly enough, this did not make me love him all the more.) There has been no mention of a deletion review to this point. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:43, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

If you really think this guy is notable somehow, there's nothing shameful about having a deletion review; it's a healthy and wholesome check on administrators' fallible decisions. I still don't see the alleged notability; he's like a weatherman or other local media "personality," famous only in his small circle. If anything, I'm surprised nobody has nominated his show's article for deletion as non-notable. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:10, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Rfb participation thanks

Hi, GlassCobra.

I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your both your early and strong support, as well as your keeping tabs on the page (yes, I noticed :D ) -- Avi (talk) 16:17, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. Thanks for your support at my recent Request for adminship. I’ll do my best to continue being a net positive to the project, and I hope you find I live up to your expectations. Best, Risker (talk) 13:47, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Ditto!

GlassCobra/Archive 15, just a note of appreciation for your recent support of my request for adminship, which ended successfully with 112 supports, 2 opposes, and 1 neutral. Editing on page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya or HEMU

Sudhirbhargava (talk) 11:51, 17 May 2008 (UTC)Helllo,

You have deleted about a thousand bytes from the above page, about a couple of hours ago, though I am giving all the citations along with the write-ups.Today itself, earlier salilb had deleted some 5000 bytes from the page, saying citations are biased or the books mentioned are biased,so these sentences cannot be put on wikipedia.

During last four months, since I started preparing this page,I searched lot of books on HEMU, to put material on wikipedia. His photograph was searched and put. But the way material is deleted without assigning any reason or without informing the writer, despite putting all the citations makes me wonder how wikipedia can maintain quality. If there were some objections to any material, atleast writer should be informed before deletions.I agree there could be some difference of opinions on contents.Almost 90% of the write-up is by me on this page, and the write-up is only 60% complete yet.More material is to be added, for which I hold all citations. This is rare material, and can be put, once the discrepencies in the present write-up are removed.

If 6000 bytes are removed from the page, from different chapters what remains of an write-up?

I'll wait for your communication, before proceeding further.

sudhirbhargava

Hi! Your last edit on this page, reverting "Victories like Nepoleon" to "Second battle of Panipat" is creating confusion on page. Fact is that this section has nothing connected to Second battle of Panipat. It deals with Hemu's victories in entire north india from Bengal to Agra only. Then is his victory over Delhi, and next will come Second battle of Panipat. Para concerning Second battle of Panipat is further down below. You'll see two paras on this page regarding Panipat,in fact three--one is an external link. This is quite confusing for a visitor to this page. The appropriate heading for this para is the old one, reverted by you. Please check.

Hellow! , 1) You edited above page and introduced a section, "Victories against Mughals". Please note that this chapter has nothing related to Mughals. The victories mentioned in this chapter were against the Afghan rebels, only Agra was under Akbar's rule.Upper half of the chapter deals with the many victories Hemu had over Afghan rebels. The second para deals with his victories like Nepoleon, like "he came,he saw,he won". I again suggest that the best title for this section will be "His Victories like Nepoleon".In fact this title was not given by me, some body else had mentioned it. But now this seems most appropriate. Please do the needful.

2) Size of alphabets of the title 'Victory over Akbar's forces in Delhi'has to be enlarged a bit. They look smaller.

3) Please advise for how long the tag 'neutrality of subject matter' will remain disputed. In the present case 25% of the page or about 6250 bytes have been deleted, but still the entire page remains disputed. What is the use of such massive deletions, despite all citations,if the write-up remains disputed. And like Salilb suggests, that some historians should be associted, how much time do you think it will take to clear this page from all kind of disputes?

User situation

Hi GlassCobra. I wanted to ask you about something. Do you see any problems with this user creating a new account, or wanting to "delete" his current one, because of some mistakes he made? I've been talking with another user about this here and here. Do you agree that it would be fine for him to create another account if he really wants to, as long as there's no negative intentions? Thanks for the insight. --JamieS93 16:30, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem. :) Yes, he's still using his original username at the moment. Another user, Deepak D'Souza, recently gave him some specific recommendations on what to do [1], and he agreed with the ideas and wanted to know how to continue with this sort of plan.[2] So that's the current state of that situation. I'd appreciate your opinion on this, thanks again. :) --JamieS93 20:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

WP time

This is because my account was created on July 14, 2006, though I've only been actively editing since January 2008 (starting right around the first "hello world" entry). As such the RfA nom really only addressed my "active" time (I did do a bit of work back in 2006, but nothing major). Hope that clears up the confusion =). xenocidic (talk) 14:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

POV tag on Allan Cox (author)

You added POV and notability tags to Allan Cox (author). I would appreciate some guidance on addressing your concerns.

To the best of my knowledge, I reviewed the pertinent guidelines before writing this entry and made every effort to abide by them.

I thought that I had in fact provided appropriate references and support for the material, although much of it is not available in electronic form. I do have hard copies of the materials I used and can make scans of it available. Is it a problem with the way in which I referenced the material?

As for your concerns that the style reads like an ad, can you identify the particular points where you feel this to be the case? I modeled this biography on several others that I considered comparable (e.g. Don Tapscott, Alan Kay). I'm happy to work on addressing your concerns, but need some more specifics to do so.

With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. Editing on the page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya

Hi !, You have changed the subtitle 'Victories like Napoleon' to 'Victories against Mughals', once again. As I pointed out earlier also the victories mentioned in this para were not against Mughals but were against Afghan rebels, so your title remains factually incorrect.

Secondly, I wonder what are the objections on naming this para as 'Victories like Napoleon'. You'll find in references, there is a book 'Hemu - the Napoleon of medieval India' which describes in details Hemu's victories during three years from 1553-56. You find details on style and approach of Napoleon and Hemu in wars and their similarities in victories. For this reason, I have put the title 'Victories like Napoleon'. This is the second time this sub-title has been changed. Also POV tag which was removed after months has been put again despite so many references on the page. This is like spoiling a well written page which has only varifiable facts. Such frequent editings have left this page unfinished as I expected comments from some historians or administrators themselves. Any body who puts tags on varifiable facts must give references also.
