Welcome to Wikipedia! There's always lots to do around the site. This is a list of things that you can do to help out, and next I've also included a list that Wikipedia makes for everyone looking for something to do:
Counter-Vandalism Unit: These users patrol articles, the recent changes page, and the new pages page to revert vandalism and, if necessary, report wrongdoers. To help get you started, there's a recent changes list down at the bottom of the page. (other pages to check out: WP:UNDO, WP:CSD, WP:NOTE)
Participate in deletion debates: As a member of the Wikipedia community, you have an obligation to add your voice to discussions. One of the best places to input your opinion is discussions about articles that have been nominated for deletion. (other pages to check out: WP:AADD, WP:GD)
Expand and improve articles: Far too many articles on Wikipedia are incomplete stubs, ghosts of the masterpieces they should be. They need to be expanded to include all the meaningful, important content that they deserve. Other articles have been written in a tone that is not neutral, and need to be amended. Still others need copyediting and cleanup of sentence structure and style; these tasks may seem trivial, but are in truth just as important as all others. However, possibly the most important task is making sure that every article on Wikipedia is verifiable, making sure that material that might be challenged has sources properly cited. (other pages to check out: WP:5P, WP:WSS, WP:COPYEDIT, WP:LoCE, WP:RS)
Wikification: There are a lot of articles on Wikipedia that do not conform to the layout guide. Editing articles to fit these guidelines is called wikifying them. (other pages to check out: WP:WWF, WP:STYLE, WP:EDIT)
Help with image copyright issues: All images on Wikipedia must comply with the image use policy. They must conform to certain standards in order to make them acceptable for use; namely, that they are able to be used for free in compliance with the GNU Free Documentation License. However, in certain cases, fair use images can also be acceptable. When uploading a picture, a certain license must be chosen to allow it to be displayed. (other pages to check out: WP:RP, WP:DYKI, WP:PIC, WP:UPI, WP:WPFU)
Of course, don't forget the number one most important rule: Have fun!
