[edit] Canal name
Article is called Glasgow, Paisley and Johnstone Canal, but the first line of the article says Glasgow, Paisley and Ardrossan Canal, only just noticed that it has been like this for nearly three years! Is one correct, or both, or neither? --- Dreamer 84 18:53, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Technically both. The intention was to build the canal all the way to Ardrossan - hence the name. The money ran out so it was only built as a canal to Johnstone. The canal company initially built and owned the railway link which formed the middle bit between Johnstone and Ardrossan; this was sold off and became the Ardrossan Railway. C.J.A. Robertson (1983) gives the name as the G,P&A canal.Pyrotec (talk) 17:38, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
