Glasgow Cross
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Glasgow Cross is a junction in Glasgow between the High Street, Gallowgate, London Road, the Saltmarket and the Trongate (running clockwise from north).
There is a monument to St. John Ogilvie which has, at its centre, four streets running from it. Other notable buildings include the Mercat Cross and the Tolbooth Steeple. It was in the latter that hangings used to occur.[1] Along with the nearby Tron Theatre, it is one of the few remaining medieval buildings in the city.
The presently disused Glasgow Cross railway station sits beneath the junction.
