Gladys Ravenscroft

Gladys Ravenscroft (c.18901960) was a British golf champion. Born in Cheshire, England Gladys Ravenscroft won the British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship at Turnberry, Scotland . In 1913 she traveled to Wilmington, Delaware to compete in the United States Women's Amateur Golf Championship. She defeated Marion Hollins in the finals, making her only the second competitor to simultaneously hold both the American and British titles.[1]

Gladys Ravenscroft married Temple Dobell and resided in Wirral, England. With the onset of World War I during which she did volunteer service . At the end of the war, she continued competing and winning the Cheshire ladies amateur championship on more than one occasion.
