Gladys Porter

Gladys Muriel Porter, M.B.E., D.C.L. (born August 1894 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada-died April 30, 1967 in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada) was the first female Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia. Elected in the 1960 election, she was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia representing the provincial electoral district of Kings North. She died while in office.
She was also the first woman elected as Mayor in Kentville, Nova Scotia.
