Gjestal

Gjestal is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway.
The municipality was created as Gjestal formannskapsdistrikt in 1837. According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 862.
On 1 January 1965 Gjestal was merged with a part of Forsand as well as two districts in Bjerkreim and Høle to create the new municipality Gjesdal. Prior to the merger Gjestal had a population of 3,353.
