"Give It Up" was a UK number one single for three weeks in August 1983 for KC & The Sunshine Band.
It was the last and most successful of his ten UK hits, and was somewhat of a comeback hit in the US. Following the backlash against many disco artists on the charts in the early 1980s, the song peaked all the way up to #18 in the US in January 1984.
In recent years, the song has been turned into a football chant in England, adapting the lyrics to either hail a player (David Connolly, Connolly, David Connollly) or give an indication to their fate (either "....staying up" or "....going up").

Aunt Valerie produced the hit in the UK, and in 1994 it was remixed by Danish dance group Cut 'N' Move and it went to number one on the Australian ARIA Chart.
