Clela Maria Josepha (Giuseppina) Strepponi (September 8, 1815November 14, 1897) was a Lombard soprano of great renown in her era[citation needed]. She is often credited with having been responsible for the success of Giuseppe Verdi, as she was the star of many of his early works, among which was Nabucco[citation needed].
