Giuseppe Coniglio known as U poeta (Pazzano (RC), December 2, 1922 – Catanzaro,March 13, 2006) was an Italian poet, dedicated to Calabrian dialect poetry.

Giuseppe Coniglio, born on 2 December 1922 in a family of poor farmers, lived for all his life in Pazzano (province of Reggio Calabria, Italy). He is married to Letizia Bosco and has two children: Palmiro and Maria Antonietta. He worked as farm hand and then as capo operaio forestale (forestal head worker) in "Bacino Montano Stilaro".
After the second world war, he wrote his first Carnival farces in pazzanito dialect (local variant of Calabrian dialect). The most famous of these farces was:" La calata degli dei" (The fall of the gods) of 1949. He produced the first poetry collection in 1973 under the title "Calabria contadina" (farmer Calabria). In 1984 a second edition was published. In the same year, he published:Quattru chjacchjari e ddui arrisi (Some chat and some laughs). The last collection is A terra mia (My land) (1998).
He produced also a great number of wood and stone sculptures; the most famous can be considered "La fontana dei Mascheroni".
He wrote for theatre the work Marcu e Filomena and the remake of Natale in casa Cupiello (a most famous play by Eduardo De Filippo in pazzanese dialect.
In August 2007 the social-cultural center of Pazzano (Centro di aggregazione socio-culturale) was dedicated to him.
