[edit] Ruined Joke

Do anyone agree that when it showed the subtitle of the frog saying "I thought he meant his penis" it completely ruined the joke? It was so unsimpsonlike and tasteless. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.96.120 (talk • contribs)

This episode was garbage. The writers have completely destroyed Skinner's character. - Zone46 00:07, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

worst episode ever!

Well, I might have edited out that joke, but I thought the episode was otherwise one of the best. NeonMerlin 15:46, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

You've guys got to be kidding. This is one of the funniest episodes in the history of the Simpsons. For the show being on for twenty years they still manager to make me laugh from the time I was six until the time I was 24 years old. The frog joke wasn't that great, but I think people expect so much from the Simpsons. They have to evolve like any other characters in any other television show. Skinner's character can't be the same after 18 seasons. We know more about these characters than ever before and plus they can't keep it boring. Some seasons had a sweet ending, some had a sing-songy ending (which I hate), and some have just funny parts that make little sense, but are still memorable. I just have to remember there are nerds who can't write who feel like the show has "lost its touch". Stop watching and let the real fans laugh their asses off!

That joke has been since edited on the Sky One showings. It WAS previously with the subtitle, but it seems the Sky censors decided to remove it. It's a little more obtuse without the blatent joke. IMHO, if it was Chris Griffin doing the scene in Family Guy, it'd fly. Not so much with Bart. KingDaveRa 18:51, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Harvard incident

Wasn't there that speech/comment by the Harvard president about women's academic skills being different to those of men? Were those comments in the same vein as this episode? 202.89.155.188 07:06, 4 March 2007 (UTC) I just didn't read hard enough, my bad. 202.89.155.188 07:10, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Picture

The picture in the info box shows Lisa unmasking herself with Skinner (still wearing a skirt) in the background. I didn't remember that, so I watched for it in tonight's airing, and as far as I can tell, Skinner wasn't present at all at the award ceremony. Was the ending changed? 75.36.182.157 08:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

Look at the detail in the picture. It is a drawing, most likely a promo pic, not a still from the episode.

[edit] A Double Standard Highlighted

This entry does mention that Lisa throws an object at Martin. The point, however, is that female masculinity is deemed accpetable when male femininity is not. The viewer is supposed to sympathize with Lisa's pursuit of math, but Martin faces violence, even from a progressive like Lisa, for practicing the flute. This is similar to how tomboys are tolerated but "sissies" are punished. This scene shows how some can sympathize with a female engineer, but condemn a male nurse, for example. jcm 6/2/8 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chumley41 (talkcontribs) 19:39, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
